In June 13, 2013, Off The Grind Reporter, Tara Dodrill’s story “Privacy,” documented accounts of a Secret Service visit to an US citizen, Mr. Tom Francois. Accordingly, the visit was because of anti-Obama sentiments made by Francois on his (Francois’) Twitter account, which has a large following. The Secret Service visit, as described by Miss Dodrill, appeared more as an intrusion. During the visit, the Secret Service also questioned Mr. Francois about gun ownership, and later told Francois that “stepping over the lines,” could cause his guns to be confiscated. http://www.offthegridnews.com/2013/06/13/breaking-secret-service-invades-home-of-obama-critic-over-twitter-followers/

I ask, are we now a police state?

Incredible! This infringement on Mr. Francois’ constitutional rights is ridiculous. Apparently, the First and Second Amendments “are” merely words on paper. Non-threatening speech, whether in writing or spoken, should afford not even a nation’s President to violate a person’s civil rights. This act, President Obama, is Shameful.

Francois adds, “They were concerned that since I have a large Twitter following, the things I said could be acted upon by some nut case out there! ….”

Well, what of television, radio, political rallies, the print media, etc., are no “Nutcases,” there? Will the Secret Service rush into these situations and collar hosts, speakers, listeners and buyers, because of “concern?” Should I fear the infamous “knock” at my door, or worse, having it kicked down, because of my previous comments about Obama, or because I dare to write these?

Many years ago, I served in law enforcement, and I understand the mentality. They have a job to do, and many times, it is dirty, but to use these brave men and women illegally, defeats the (very) purpose of their presences.

In the State of Louisiana, where I served, the citizen has a legal right to refuse arrests, if he or she knows it to be wrong, illegal. Mr. President, Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong, and this President Obama, is WRONG!

I do not follow Mr. Francois on Twitter, or in any other venue, and possibly, his and my views may differ on many accounts. Still, I need never to read the man’s personal vindications of President Obama, and I certainly do not need elementary school instruction about honor integrity truth and lies. My responsibility as an adult is to review the issues do the research, if any, afford intelligence, fair mindedness, in addition to the facts, and then arrive at a conclusion, or many.

In fairness to Obama, in many ways, he is vilified, likened to historic monsters like Adolf Hitler, referred to as a traitor to the United States Of America. I do not think that these assertions are factual and true. Still, and looking from the outside in, it appears that at least some accusations have places to roost. This intrusive act by the Secret Service certainly fans the flames.

Why, in the face of fact, that being that no threats existed, does a nation’s President dispatch his Secret Service to the residence of a United States citizen? Is mere concern enough? I think not; and the laws of this nation would support me. Police officers tracking criminals cannot make arrests, even detainments based merely on concern, “gut feelings.” For such actions, Officers (could) face criminal charges. Should not the country’s President be held to the same high standards, or is ‘he’ immune to the laws of this great land. I think not.

Let us presume that the story as reported in Off The Grind News is incorrect and inaccurate, and the President actually did not dispatch the Secret Service to Mr. Francois’ residence. As the nation’s President, and Commander in Chief, is he not yet responsible for the actions of his Body of Enforcement. Answer: YES!”

The Grind continues that, “According to Tom Francois, Secret Service agents asked him if he had any intentions of “whacking” President Obama. The political cartoonist had this to say in response and during an Examiner interview”:

“Of course not. I wish him no harm. I disagree with his policies and actions and I make no bones about it. It’s my First Amendment right and I intend to exercise it. I flat out told them I have never threatened Obama’s life! Yes, I despise him as you can plainly see, but I have that right! They actually admitted and agreed with me that I hadn’t threatened Obama. Yes, I am extremely critical of Obama in my posts, but I never cross the line and threaten his being. Ever. It’s just the idea of Obama’s Secret Service intruding on my life when they knew I wasn’t really a threat.”

Until we live in a police state, as American citizens we have freedoms guaranteed by the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights; and if any Governing Body wishes to “SILENCE,” us then it first must remove the legal proclamations, which authorize our freedoms.

Times change, and we could never truly know what is developing within our midst, let us hope and pray that this country is never thrown back to darker days. If this were to happen, then we would to need more than even God to help us, and you, President Obama.
